Need Replacement Windows or New Construction Windows?
New Windows come in two classifications, New Construction Windows, and New Replacement Windows.
The distinction comes in that new windows are thought of for new construction. These windows have a nailing fin, or flange, that contractors can use to fasten the window to the studs of a new construction home. This is before the brick or siding goes up around it. The nailing fin is then covered up by the brick or siding, and the installation is completed.
Replacement windows, on the other hand, have been manufactured for the existing home and the windows are secured from the side the window perpendicularly to the windows side frame, right into the stud. The affect is the same as in the new construction window, but the actual installation is just a bit different.
This being said, there are instances in which new construction windows are the best way to replace the home’s windows.
